Harry Hamilton arrived the first
of the week from Idaho and Is vis
iting relatives on the crook.
H. T. PiUor has sold his holding
to Geo. Fogle and will leave for
California at once.
K. B. Smith put a telephone In
his home the last of the week.
A petition is now being circulated
for a new mail route. It l to he

Madras and end at Gristly. Most

F. M. Simpson has boon enlarg

One thing particularly noticeable
this winter Is the condition of the
roads here. There hasn't been a
day yet but the automobile could
travel the roads with very little
difficulty.
Among the late cases of la grippe

on Mill Creek this week.
Peter Magers is quite busy work
ing on his new ham.
Mr. Trapman, who has been work
ing on the Lanlus residence, re
turned to Prineville Saturday.
A government trapper Is expected
in this vicinity this week to com
mence trapping coyotes.
P. A. Sears and C. W. Starr are
getting their wood supply ready for
next winter.
Andrew Scott passed by today on
his way to Prineville with a bunch
of sheep.

If this weather keeps up we will
all have spring fever soon. The
snow is going fast and the days are
warm and clear.
A. J. Champion of the Ochoco
Mines, who has been sick is much
better and Is up and around again.
Mr. Grant came over from the
Mitchell country last week and took
Mrs. Bates back with him. Mrs.
Bates' mother is reported to be
very ill. Mr. Grant reports about
three feet of smw on the summit
of the mountain.
Forest Ranger G. C. Blake. W. A.
Donnelly and E. W. Donnelly are
busy peeling telephone poles at
Ochoco Ranger Station. These
poles will be used in constructing
the new forest service telephone
line from Prineville to Ochoco Sta
tion. .
E. W. Donnelly made a trip to
Prineville Sunday.
Summit prairie report eighteen
inches of snow. This Is very light
for this time of the year.
No rabid coyotes have been re
ported in this vicinity for a couple
of weeks, and we hope that we may
report this way indefinitely. If tha
proposed raise in the bounty on
coyotes Is passed by the legislature
It should help eastern Oregon won
derfully, and we hope that the
bounty will not be lowered or taken
off about the time the coyotes begin
to get thlned out.
UPPER MILL CREEK

About five Inches' of snow fell
Saturday and Sunday, making a
depth of ten inches on the level.
Mr. and Mrs. Dug Ingram have
returned from Portland and other
points in the Willamette Valley.
Mrs. A. Orrick lost a cow the
other day of rabies.
Mrs. James Fuller returned on
Thursday from McKay, where she
has been with her brother, John
Demaris, who is In very poor health.
J. E .Tuller made a trip through
the mountains to McKay. The snow
was four feet deep in places.
Riley Warren, the government
hunter. Is spending a few days in
Prineville.
Earl Hereford's dog, which was
bitten some time ago by a mad dog,
died of rabies.
Fred Jones went to Prineville on
Thursday to get his thoroughbred
calves from Tillamook.
Mr. Barney has been banking out
wood, getting it ready to haul to
town.
Mrs. Lela Barney went to Prine
ville Friday where she spent the
week with her children.
Mrs. Jeanie Ray, who has been
visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Jones, returned Tuesday to
her home in Grass Valley.
Earl Hereford has been hauling
wood to Prineville.
Two cars of Joy riders were up
on Mill Creek last Friday.
