The Harney County News, of Rums, issued an eight page four column extra on October 7, in honor of an open-air symphony con cert by the Rums "Sagebrush Orchestra" which was held in that city on the date above mentioned. This was Immediately after their return from a trip to Portland and Salem, and was on the date of the Harney county fair. The Redmond Warehouse Co.n pany is ready to contract all kinds of grain with a liberal payment in advance. Pd. Adv. CHIT L. Worrell of Powell Ruttc was In the city today and returned to his farm with a load of barn timbers for a structure 40x(j2 feet. Mr. Worrell Is one of the progressive farmers who are making tho Powell Rutte country famous as a land of good homes. He owns the ranch formerly operated by A. Dryer. The arrangement with the Craw ford Company which was made by the Commercial Club management last week, netted the club about $100 after all expenses were paid. The Crawford people drew good houses after they became better known, and had especially good attendance on Friday and Saturday nights. They will return to Prine ville in the spring, with a new pro gram, they say. Methodists Have Reception in Honor of Pastor and Family About eighty persons congregat ed at the Methodist church in this city Friday ivening and joined in a reception to Rev. Reid and fami ly. A basket supper was spread by thi' ladies and following the meal, with Rev. Van Nuys as toastmaster, a number of short addresses were made by various members arid others present. BY STATE OF OREGON During the quartr ending Sep tember 30th, 1'Jlfi, State Engineer John II. Icwis, issued 144 permits for the appropriation of water, in cluding nine for the construction of reservoirs. According to these permits it is proposed to irrigate 8.354 acres of land, store 4,129 acre feet of water and develop 70U horsepower. Tho following permits were issued in Crook County: J. R. Post of Post, for the irri gation cf 90 acres, diverting water from Crooked River in Section 3(5, Township Ui-S, Range 19-K. W. C. Congleton of Paulina, for the irrigation of 200 acres, divert ing water from Paulina Creek in Sec. 5, Tp. 1C.-S, R. 23-K. Isabel. Poindexter of Prineville. for the irrigation of 54 acres, di verting water from Crooked River in Sec. 6, Tp. 15-S. R. Iti-E. . W. r. Kimr of Princvil p. to store 280 acre feet of "wafers of Oehoco Creek for supplemental sup ply of lands already having a water right. Oregon & Western Colonization Company of Prineville, for do nu stic and stock purposes, diverting water from three springs in Sec 25, Tp. 15-S, M.V. D. Milburn 1 Lwer Bridge, for the irrigation of ttU acres, diverting water from Squaw Creek in Sec. 6, Tp. 14-S, R. 12-E. Alfalfa Items. Two more autos have mado their appearance in Alfalfa. Ralph Smock and , Ralph Ferry are the owners. The first literary program was given last Saturday evening to a large and appreciative crowd. All of the Alfalfaitps who at tended the county fair express themselves as well pleased. Several of our local boys are practicing the bulldogging .stunt and hope to enter the arena next year. Hardy, one of Alfalfa's foremost farmers, has bought 40 acres more land joining his ranch. Mrs. Halloway entertained the Jolly N"ighbors Club Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Lucy Smock has the distinc tion of being the first lady chautfeur in Alfalfa. MRS. I. MICHEL NOTICE OF SPECIAL BOND ELECTION. OCIIOCO IRRIGATION DISrRICT. Notice is hereby given by the Board off Directors of the Ochoco Irrigation. Districtthat on the 11th dav of November, 1916, between the hour of eight A. M. and five P. M. of said day, a special election .will be held in and by the said Ochoco Irrigation District, for the purpose of voting upon the question of issuing bonds of said irrigation district in the sum of $1,100,000.00. for the purpose of constructing the proposed irrigation works of said Ochoco Irrigation District. Said election will be held at Lower McKay School House in said Irrigation District. Any person male or female, of the age of twenty-one years or over, whether a resident of the dis trict or not, who' is a bona fide owner of land situated in the dis trict as shown by the last assess ment roll shall be entitled to vote at said election, provided that a bona fide claimant to an uncom pleted title under the public land laws of the United States or of the State of Oregon shall' be construed Jo be a bona fide owner of lands and provided that any corporation holding title to land within the district may vote at said election as a single land owner through any officer or agent of said corporation authorized by resolution by its Board of Directors. : This notice is given by virtue of , a resolution of the Board of Direc tors of the Oehoco IrVigation District, adopted onj the 16th day of October, 1916.
