The directors of the Club were considering plans Tuesday evening for a large swimming pool to be ! made of concrete. Government statistics show that the moving picture business has reached fifth p'ace in the world's industries. There will be a basket dinner, at Grimes Chapel on Sunday, to be followed by preaching. Everyone in that community is invited. Rev. K C. Newham has returned from The Dalles District League Convention at Kennewiek and re ports it was by far the best yet. ; The Ochoeo Creamery has pur chased two scales for weighing samples of cream, which are the best in this line. One is used at the plant here and the other in Redmond. Sheriff Knox has r?cently pur chased a new Ford which is being equipped with a self starter of the best typo. Williamson, of Vassar, Mich., who is a sister of Jas. D. Townsend who was recently committed to the asy lum, inquiring of Townsend's con dition. A. R. Lewis and wife of Airlie, who were looking over stock ranches in Central Oregon, were accompanied southward to Lake- view by Mrs. J. M. Montgomery j and daughters, Lottie and Elsie. 1 Mrs. Montgomery will spend the' summer with her sister at Lame-; view, while the girls will attend j summer school at Monmouth. I "Ruy Bias," the play of old j Spanish times, staged by Redmond! people at the Club hall last Friday j evening was ably supported by j good acting and beautiful scenery and costumes. Harry P. Wilson and Miss Ruth Pettigrew played the title roles in a very pleasing manner and a large crowd' appreci ated, the talents of our neighbors. Directly after leaving their house in Redmond to visit Leo Lafol lette's, next door neighbors, Claude Cress and family had a narrow es cape from lightning, in the storm Saturday evening. A bolt of light ning struck a tree in the yard, passed through a wire into the house, cut a line in the plaster and smashed a scieen door. No one was injured. Mrs. Alice Tayett suffered a stroke of appoplexy at her home mar Suplee on Saturday which re sulted in her death. She ran from her house to open a gate for some parties who were corral ing horses and fell to the ground. Death came in' a few minutes. Funeral services wore held the following day.
