Ochoeonian and Alpha Societies wa
held in the assembly room of the
high school on Wcdneday Decern bw
15. and was attended by (several

The first number of the program
was a solo by George SUftrns,( w ho
by reason of hiH excellent dinging in
becoming a great favorite with the
students. ' !
Hazel Yancey reeiU-d a pleasing

wide. Beatrice Clark played an enter
taining instrumental solo.
Doris Usher gave an entertaining
talk on the origin of the Christmas
tree.
The selections by the Boys' Quar
tette, consisting or Eaten, Powell,
Rice and Stearns, were well received
I by all.
Maude Donohue recited, and was
followed bv Helen Van Nuya. who
read quotations of varioui authors
on Christmas.
An instrumental duet by Alma
Lippman and Lillian Dinwiddie was
the closing selection.
The Normal girls are assisting in
decorating for the Community
Christmas, and the songs which will
be sung at the gathei ing are being ,
practiced in assembly so as to en
able us to contribute a share in the
festivities.
Miss Conway's Senior English
class evinced much interest in the
study of Shakespear's "Macbeth",
which they finished this week.
The ribbons received from L. W.
Hill for school exhibit in 1913, have
been made into an attractive banner
and placed in the assembly room.
A candy sale by the Domestic
Science class was well patronized
Friday evening.
Roy Newell "put one over" on
his friends last week. He went to
Vancouver Tuesday night and was
married yesterday to Miss Clara
Healey, daughter of Jeff Healey of
the Lamonta country. Roy's friends
will await impatientlyfor his return
when he and his bride will no doubt
receive a warm reception.- Madras
