CHRISTMAS
The Christinas season is upon us,
and Central Oregon is celebrating
the day this year in a more fitting
manner than ever before.
Prineville started the matter
early by planning a community tree
and Culver, Bend, Redmond and
other communities have taken up
the idea.
Christams within the four walls
of a church, even, where the world
is more or less excluded.the member
ship alone or at home or at the most
the usual attendants at the church,
is not the proper working out of
the Christmas idea.
It is the time f all times when
all the people of the community
should be given the same treatment
and good cheer and the season's
greetings should be the lot of every
one The community Christmas plan is
the best one yet devised for the ap
plication of these ideas, and no
doubt will be the only manner in
-hich the day will be observed in
tie future.

in union in this matter, and the sup
port of everyone in the exercises

Should Be Revised
That official state highway mnp,
drawn with Samuel Hill's mighty
fingers, should be revised to exclude
the proposed road to run from Mr.
Hill's Maryhill farm to California
and include recognition of counties
and communities which have taxed
themselves heavily to provide high
ways for through travel. One good
route that has been ignored is that
from Ontario to-The Dalles country.
Also a road through Prineville,
Silver Lake and Lakeview. For part
of the way, the last named road
coincides with Mr. Hill's road, but
this should not be held against it.

visions of the homestead laws of the
United States and the act of June
