OREGON Irrigation Distiict for Sisters Country During the past six months while Jefferson county has been getting into print with her irrigation schemes and the people of Prine ville and vicinity have been getting together upon the Ochoco project, the people about Sisters have not been idle. The present state of the water rights under Squaw Creek have long been a source of trouble and annoyance and the shortage of water a great drawback to the de velopment of the community. Three engineering parties have been into the mountains during the autumn. They have found that . a great quantity of water now in running streams upon the Squaw Creek watershed sink into grave bars and dissappear and that the several streams really contribute nothing to the desert lands below. They report that this may be very largely overcome at a very nominal expense. One of these lying across the divide and between South Sis ters Mountain and Broken Top would store 7,500 acre feet of water and with the summer flow would deliver 31,500 acre feet of water during the irrigation season. Meetings have been held at Lower Bridge, Plainview, Sisters, and Cloverdale and much interest arous ed. The people generally by a good majority favor the district plan of proceedure. The only apparent op position appearing near Cloverdale where some local differences are still to be settled, but it is believed SISTERS NOTES.
