I KEWS FROM THE SCHOOLS
C. C. H. S. NOTES
Robert W. Osborn, Editor.
The seating capacity of the high
schoolwas all too small to accommo
date these who heard the address
by Governor-elect McCall of Massa
chusettes, to the student body .Friday
afternoon. The address, which is
taken up in an another sheet of this'
paper, was followed intently by all
present, and in behalf of the faculty,
students, and friends of the school,
we wish to express the appprecia
tions of the honor bestowed 'upon
us.
Miss Sykes is entitled to praise
by the way in which she upheld the
hospitality of the school, by the
dinner given at the Domestic Science
room in ho ior of the visit of Gov
ernor McCall.
The dining room was tastefully
decorated in blue and white while
the table which was laid for twelve,
was made ueutiful with a center
piece of Oregon Grape and a minai
ture ship, the latter being symboli
cal of the landing of the Pilgrims
and the spirit of Massachusetts. The
dinner itself was served in ten
courses by the girls of the Science
class.
Those present were the Hon.
Samuel McCall, guest of honor,
Messrs. Baughman, Edwards, Wil
son, H. McCall, Upton and Baxter,
Mesdames Wilson,, McCall, Upton,
Walker and Edwards.
On last Thursday evening, Novem
ber 18, the Club Hall was the scene
of an enthusiastic meeting of some
eighty people of the High' School
for the purpose of organizing what
will probably be known as the
Junior Commercial Club, to be com
prized exclusively , of students,
Alumni and those who have attended
the C. C. H. S.
The officers elect of this actvity
are President Frank Brosius, Vice
President Harry Stearns, Secretary
Ernest Estes, and Treasurer Robert
Osborn. Arthur Michel, Miss Sykes
and Mr. Davis are on the committee
of arrangements, and with the com
mittees on entertainment and by
laws will soon have the issueathand
on a business basis.
The Home Economics Club com
posed of the girls of the Domestic
Art and Science classes are applying
the money made from the pie sales
in the decoration of their dining
room.
The present enrollment of the
typewriting class is sixty-five, which
calls for an equipment of eleven
machines. Tables have been made
in the Shop for two new Reming
tons which are expected soon.
There will be a masque ball ,at
Roberts on the evening of Saturday
the 27. Everyone invited.
