CROOK COUNTY JOURNAL Page 6 . t i i i i 3- ! I t P i I I HE UNIVERS MRawa ANNOUNCEMENT The following prices, f. o. b. Detroit, effective August 2, 1915 FORD RUNABOUT - $390.00 FORD TOURING CAR $440.00 FORD TOWN CAR - $640.00 No apeedometer included in thit year's equipment, otherwise car fully equipped There can be no assurance Riven against an advance in these prices at any time, we guarantee, however, that there will be no reduction in these prices prior to August 1, 1916 Profit-Sharing with Retail Buyers On August 1, 1914, we made the announcement that if we could make and sell at retail 300,000 Ford cars between August 1, 1914 and August 1. 1915 we would share profits with the re tail purchasers, to the extent of from 40 to $60 on each car. we have sold over 300,000 Ford cars in the time specified, and profit-sharing checks of 50 each will be distributed as rapidly as possible after August 15, 1915. Retail purchasers who have not yet mailed us their profit-sharing Coupons, properly en dorsed, should do so without delay. Our plan to profit share with retail purchasers of Ford cars during 1914-15 has been most successful, we thoroughly be lieve in it, but, realizing the uncertainty of conditions general ly makes it advisable to defer any announcement of future profit-sharing until a later date. we are, however, confident of our inability to reduce costs for several months, and therefore can offer no profit-sharing for cars delivered during August, September and October, 1915. Ford Motor Company DETROIT C. W. WILSON THE FORD GARAGE D. F. Stewart Writes To The Journal A letter recently received from D. F. Stewart who with Mrs. Stewart is making an extended trip over the United States is of interest and is printed in part herewith: "It has now been something over SOjdays since I last saw vou, but in alljthat tiniel have been'quite busy. On leaving Prineville, I visited IVrtlandandJiroin thcre.I stopped off?atfAHanv which place 1 last saw in ISM or12. At that ,ti me t hey g had not evenfa cementJi-side walk hut now they have over 20 miies of paved streets. From there we.went to Toledo, Oregon, and ! thence to Lewis. Idaho, through the, famous il'uloustCountryvia Moscow Idaho, where everywhere I saw Great Stacks of wheat in sacks with warehouses'full and overrun ning! Then on via Spokane to Sand Point, ldaho, where 1 found a thriv ing town of about 5,000 population. i Thence on returning via Spokane to iPomeroy. Washington, where again I saw millions of bushels ol wheat stacked ready for shipment. From there via Pendleton where everywhere I saw warehouses full to overflowing with wheat I then went to Nampa, Idaho, which has aboutj 5,000 population. There I visited my brother and his family. This is an irrigated country and can discount Prineville for dust anddry he&Jbut with water it is a great yeilder of crops. Much more so than our country. From there we arrived in Nebraska, at Oak Dale, where I visited another brother whom I had not seen for 39 years. It is not strange that he did not know me. In this country I saw a wonder ful change. When I left Nebraska in 1876 the population' was about 400,000 and is now something over 2,000,000, and seems very prosper ous. Since leaving we have had beauti ful weather and I must say Ne braska is a beautiful state. From Nebraska we visited in Chicago. It is too large for me to to compre- j hend. 2,500,000 they claim. There are some, magnificent buildings, and fine hotels, and they can charge, you bet, Built on interior of mar ble. Frem Chicago we arrived here last night and leave for New York tonight at 9. 30. Saw Niagu-a Falls and all the scenery connected with same. It is most grand. It is a little cool here today, but I guess it is on account of voting on suffrage. Hope you are moving along smooth and nice. We are having the time of our life, and are a little slow but I guess things will go on at home just the same. Tell the folks to be good until we see them again. With best regards, P. F. Stewart and wife. The Condon Times of November 13 says that the death of Thomas J. Leach mar that town was accident al. In reporting the death the story says that Mr. Leach arose about six o'clock in the morning and went to the well for water. When he did not return Mrs. Ixach went in search of him, and found that he had fallen into the well, which was about 16 feet deep, and that the fall had broken his neck. As there was considerable snow on the ground, it is thought that he lost his footing and fell to his death. The Leach family formerly lived near Lamonta and have many friends here. F.P.Luce received anew vul canizing machine the first of the week, and has his shoD in the old Tire Hospital formerly occt piedby Doc Goddard for the same purpose. He Says that he is ready to do first class work.
