Miss Morse, sister of Will Morse of I.annmlu, is seriously ill at the home of C. V. Smith In this city. Mrs. Dick Mulholland of Hurries was brought to Prineville the first of the week for medical attention. Mist Anna MeCulough left the first of the week for Paulina where she will spend the winter. Grandma and Grandpa Houston left on the Rear Creek stage today to visit their daughter, Mrs. Hurley Saunders. Jake Sehwartzcr of Paulina re turned from Portland the first of the week, where he had been with a car of cattle. Ralph Rreoso passed through this city this morning with a band of 900 head of spring lambs which have been sold to Portlund buyers. The Hallowe'en social which was to have been given at the Raptist church has been abandoned because of the football rally on that even ing. P. C. Garrison of the Rodgers Youman Lumber company was in Prinevillo yesterday on business connected with his company's hold ings in the Blue Mountains. ORDINANCE NUMBER 227 An ordinance entitled "An ordin ance to ordain an amendment to Sub-division two of Section Twenty five of Chapter five of the City Char ter of the city of Prineville Oregon, the same being an act of the legislature of the State of Oregon, approved by the Gover nor theieof on the 16th day of Feb ruary 1899, and to rcf r .he same to the legal voters of said city for their approval or rejection at a special election." Whereas revenue sufficient to carry on the city government in the City of Prineville, Oregon in a pro per and efficient manner cannot be raised unless said amendment to the City Charter is adopted ; Now, there fore, The People of the City of Prineville, Oregon, do Ordain as Follows: Section 1. ! That sub-division Two of Section Twenty-five of Chapter five of the City Charter of Prineville, Oregon, the same being an act of the legisla ture of the state of Oregon, approv ed by the Governor thereof on the 16th day of February 1899, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: . Sub-division 2. To assess, levy an I receive taxes for municipal pur poses, not to exceed oni and one half per cent per annum, upon all the property within the corporate limits both real and personal which is taxable for county and state pur poses, as a general fund. Section 2. That the amendment to said char ter as in Section 1 of this ordinance ordained, be and the same is hereby referred to the legal voters of the City of Prineville, Crook County, Orgon for their approval or rejoe tion, at a secial election to be held the 12th day of November, 1915, in said City of Prineville. Section 8. That a special election be held and conducted, and that proper no tice thereof be given as in Ordinance No. 226 of this City, provided, in the City of Prineville, Crook County, Oregon on the 12th day of Novem ber, 1915. To provide for the appointmei t, compensation and tenure of ofliice of a city attorney, a surveyor or commissioner of streets judges, clerks and canvassers of election, poundmaster, marshal and other members of the police.
