Russia Is not only holdlug her own along the entire eastern fronts, but at some points, notably In Galicia, the czar's armies have as sumed the offensive and are deliver ing heavy blows at the Invaders. These, according to the German sc oounts, have bees repulsed, but It Is evident Russia has been for tbe time at least relieved from the tremendous German pressure to which she had been subjected for the last six mouths. During the month of Sep tember, 28 vessels loaded at the mills In the lower river district, their com bined cargoes amounting to 15.408,000 feet of lumber. Twenty-seven of these vessels, carrying 14,D64,000 feet of lumber, went to domestic port, while one vessel,' with 844,000 feet of lum ber on board. Is en route for foreign ports. During the same period, IB ves sels loaded 3,311,000 feet of lumber at uprlver mills for domestic points, while three vessels sailed wltb 4,703, 000 feet for foreign ports.
