John Elder of Alfalfa is in Frine ville this week. R. H. Bayley of Tumalo is on the jury this week. L. S. Logan was in Frineville the last of the week. H. H. Cofoid was a business visitor several days this week. Chas. Hindmanand wife of Sisters are in attendance at court. A. L. French of Bend was in Prineville on Tuesday. A. Thomson was abuisness visitor the first of the week. W. M. Nanny of Deschutes is at tending court this week. Joe Howard, Jr., of Lower Bridge is in Prineville this week. E. E. Laughlin is attending court this week from Paulina. The Michel boys are busy teaching thejr m?w Buick Six to drive. J. H. Barkley was in the city the last of the week from Madras. Chas. Darnielle of the Hotel Al bert, of The Dalles is in the city. "Wardwell Cram and wife are visit ing relatives and friends in the city. John Dobry is the new man at J. E. Stewart and Company's store. Wm. Ledford is in the city from Post, being a juror at this term of court. Judge H. C. Ellis of Bend was attending court here the first of the week. The Shumia Club will meet at the home of Mrs. Chas. S. Edwards, on Saturday. airs. K. tsooten ot rost was in Prineville the last of the "week. She was returning from a visit to Portland. Geo. T. Her tie of The Dalles is a witness at the circuit court here. Charley Bolsby and Julia I. Allen were united in marriage on Septem ber 9th. 1 Harry Farnswortb left last week for Eugene, where he will attend the U. of 0. j Mr. and Mrs. George Smith of Portland are in the city visiting relatives and friends. j I Mrs. W. J. Hughes has gone to Hepner for a visit with friends and ; relatives there. j L. D. Claypool and family have returned from their ranch at Paulina for the winter. Mrs. Frank Cox left this week for a visit at John Day with her. mother who lives there. Carey Stearns left Wednesday for Corvallis, where he will attend the 0. A. C. there this winter. Mrs. G. M. Cornett and daughter ! Zoe left Saturday for Walla Walla where Zoe will attend school, Mrs. Vera Kellems of Eugene ar rived here Saturday, and is visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs. Geo. H. Ramsey. T. H. Brennen and family came ; in from Paulina the last of the week, and the children will attend school here this winter. Jim Prose returned the last of the week, from the huckleberry patch on the McKinzie where he secured 75 gallons of berries. Miss Lottie Crain and mother re turned the last of the week from an extended visit through Oregon and northern California. ' Manager R. L. Schee has a letter from the 0. V. railway company which states that their line will make special rates from The Dalles to Bend during fair week, one and one third fares prevailing. The return limit is set at October 11. Blanchard is Crook County's delegate to the land grant meeting at Salem, which is in session today. Miss Beatrice Johnson left Friday for St. Louis from where she will go to Oberiln, Ohio, where she has enrolled as a student in one of the best music schools in the country. J. E. Calvan who taught school in various parts of Crook County a number of years ago, is visiting with relatives here. His horn is at Oregon City at present. The teachers of the public and the high schools are holding the first of a series of regular social meetings this afternoon at the high school building. The Live Wire Club and the far mers from the country north of Prineville are holding a banquet at the Hotel Prineville tonight. They expect some 100 men to be present. There wll be services at theChrs tian Church next Sunday. Subjects: "The Vine and the Branches," and "Is God With Us?" Sunday school at 10 o'clock. Wilson were suddenly called to their home in the Willamette Valley, on account of the death of Mr. Wilson's brotier, Chris topher C. Wilson, who has made his home with Mr. Wilson for the past two years. Mr. Wilson and wife were driven to Eugene Thursday night by their son, C. W. Wilson. Jack Dobry, clerk at Stewart's store, basebal ( manager and the man who made a score in a fast game last summer, announces that he will give a dance at the Glaze hall Friday night, September 24, to which every one is invited.
