last of the week.
Joe Kennedy went to Paulina the
first of the week.
James Cram and wife were in the
city the first of the week.
W. C. Congleton was a business
vistor from Paulina on Monday.
Mrs. Al Coleman of this city went
to Paulina on Tuesday of this week.
Miss Nettie McCullough of Pau
lina is visiting her sister in this city.
Isaac Arron Watkins and Edna
Mac Crager were married last week.
A marriage license was issued to
Grover McAlister and Edna Root
both of Tumalo, on July 31.
Dr. H. P. Belknap received a new
Buick six yesterday evening.
H. E. Cross is about again after
being confined Vo his home during
the past week.
County Clerk Brown, and Treasur
er Jordan mad a flying trip to Cul
ver, Wednesday.
J. E. Roberts, John Milliron and
J. E. Warner were business visitors
from the Roberts country yesterday.
Judge and Mrs. Duffy returned
from the fair the first of the week,
and report an excellent time.
The price of admission for children
under 12 at the Lyric as been reduc
ed to 10 cents. They will present
some good programs during this
week, with some special featurs a
little later.

C. HFarrcr, the Paulina saw mill
man, was in Prineville on business
Tuesday.
Little Dorris Claypool celebrated
her twelvth birthday last week, by
giving a party to a number of friends.
Miss Sehlattman and Mrs. C.
Hinkle left today for an extended
trip through Portland, Salem and
Newport. -
Miss Leola Estcs has returned
from Portland where she has been
attending a course of lectures on
Primary school work.
J. F. Blanchard brought in a bunch
of cattle from the forest reserve a
few days ago, and reports the stock
no the reserve in fine condition.
Chas. Houston's residence a short
distance south of Roberta was struck
by lightning during an electric storm
recently, and would have probably
been consumed by fire had it not
been discovered at once.
Dan Maguire and John N. Sapargo,
mining men from Ogden, Utah, are
in Prineville, and are investigating
the Oehoco Mine at Howard with a
view of developing the property.
Joseph F. Hancock, who has been
living in this vicinity for the past
eighteen months, left the first of the
week for Brush Prairie, Washington
where he has property interests.
T. E. Edwards and family spent
Sunday with Rev. and Mrs. Ramsey
in this city. Mrs. Ramsey is a
daughter of Mr. Edwards. The party
were traveling by auto, from Eu
gene. C. J. Gloyd, who is transcribing
the records for Jefferson county at
the court house here has been in
Portland for several days where he
is held as a witness in the United
States Cashier company trial.
The Journal is informed of the
death of George M. Meyers, father
of Mrs. E. J. Breeden of Lamonta,
who was a resident of Denison, Tex
as at the timeofhis death. Mr. Mey
ers left an estate valued at $25,000
to Mrs. Breeden.
M. R.Elliott returned the last of
the week from the fair. He reports
a very pleasant trip, especially the
voyage down on' the steamer. He
met Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Gray in the
bay city, and says Mr. Gray's health
seems to be about the same as when
he lived in Prineville.
The Misses Knox returned the last
of the week from a trip to Portland,
Seattle and Alaska points. They re
port a very enjoyable time especially
on the Alaskan trip where they visit
ed a great many points of interest,
They were accompanied home by
Miss Inez Knox of Boring, Oregon,
who is the daughter of Horace Knox,
who is well known here.
