Without any urging, with but an invitation from one man, seven auto wobilcs carrying twenty-eight busi ness men of Prineville saw fit to take little visit to a country over fifty sii'.es distance last Saturday, with the object of becoming better acqua inted with the residents of that com munity and stimulating trade relati cttis if possible. ft is the unanimous decision that these men and others, will visit other parts of the adjoining country soon Tith exactly the same object in view and herein we see the light of a great fhange which will mean much for PrkieviHe. And when we say it will siean much for Prineville we do not say it with a selfish idea, for we know that it will also mean much to said ad jicent territory. Such a feeling did not exist in Prineville two years ago, and the change which has been decidedly for its better for all the territory has aot been with Prineville alone. Bend ias. her chautauqua, Redmond her yotala show, Sisters her fair, which will improve from year to year, and Tumato has a fair also, (together -with, those elaborate spreads which omehtrw we can't forget) . These functions are in a manner special days in wheh these people choose to Jake time off from their regular Lilies and visit with the residents if the dfferent fpcalities, showing inem as good a time as possible. Every time you miss one of these events you are cheating yourself out of something and troubling no one else in particular. This fact is commencing to dawn upon Prineville, and I repeat, will do much to improve the feeling between the different communities which will naturally improve trade conditions In many ways and cause an entirely different spirit to exist in Prineville. Most of the troubles in this world are traceable to the party or com munity which scorns to bo injured, and said injuries are much more of ten fancied than teal, which is the case with Prineville. There arc good days ahead, and if you want to keep up with the times bo up and doing, watch Prineville. GOOD ROADS Now is the time of year that the real test comes for the roads. There is considerable strife between the diffrent parts of the country for the tourist automobile traffic, and the facts are that the roads in practically all sections of the state are already receiving all the wear that they will stand. The nature of the soil of course de termines the wearing ability of the roads and in eastern and northern parts of Central Oregon the roads are just at present, much better than they are in the western and south ern sections for the reason that the soils are of a heavier character. Automobiles are to be seen in Prineville every day from all over the northwest, and the drivers of these cars say as a rule that the roads of this part of the state are up to the average, and in many cases above those in any other part of the north west. The roads are truly an asset that means much to the country, and whatever can be done to assist in their development and upkeep will mean direct gain to any community.
