Page 8 CROOK COUNTY JOURNAL Crook County W. C. T. U. Convention The fourth annual convention of the Crook County W. C. T. U. waa held at Redmond, April 9 and lfl. The county president, Mrs. J. B. Shipp, occupied the chair and open ed the convention in due form. Bend had charjre of the devotional, after which Redmond Union ex tended her most cordial welcome. Mrs- Russell, the state corre sponding secretary, and Mrs. Felts, president of the State Parent Teachers' Association, both gave short talks during tha forenoon session. The Friday afternoon session was given over to the discussion of several papers on Temperance Work. At the evening meeting Redmond Union rendered a musical and liter ary program and Mrs. Russell and Mrs. Felts gave talks. The Saturday morning session was a business meeting and the election of county officers. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs. Belknap, Prine ville; Vice-President, Mrs. Hedges, Redmond; Corresponding Secretary, Mrs Zell, Prineville; Recording Secretary, Mrs. Niswonger, Bend; Treasurer, Mrs. Chalfin, Gist- The afternoon session was .spent in discussing the "Better Babies' movement, and this closed the con vention. Resolved, That we thank Mrs. ; Felts, the president of the State j Parent-teachers' Association, for for her able address. Resolved, that we extend our thanks for the elocution and musical program so well rendered by the ladies. Resolved, that we extend our thanks to the citizens of Redmond for their kindness and hospitality during our stay here. Conven tion held at Redmond, April 9-10: We, your resolution committee, beg leave to submit the following resolutions: Resolved, That we heartily en dorse the work of the Girls' Indus trial School and recommend that the Unions of the county lend their aid to this work when ever possible. Resolved, That the Unions of the county take up the "Better Babies" movement and do more of this work in the future. Resolved, That we extend our. TREASURER'S NOTICE.
