CROOK COUNTY JOURNAL
Jefferson County
May Enjoin Crook
It is understood that District
Attorney W. P. Myers of Jefferson
county will institute a proceeding
m the circuit court here next week
in behalf of Jefferson county to en
join County Treasurer Jordan of
Crook county from expending funds
now being collected from Jefferson
county in paying off the outstand
ing registered warrants of Crook
county representing Crook county's
indebtedness.
Under the law by virtue of which
Jefferson county was created Crook
county officials are obliged to col
lect the taxes for Jefferson county
until the assets and liabilities are
adjusted between the counties,
which adjustment is to be arrived
at under the law on the third Mon
day in June. If the money now
being collected by Treasurer Jordan
is applied to Crook county's indebt
edness there would be no cash to
turn over to Jefferson county from
the taxes collected therefrom which
would cripple the administration of
county affairs in Jefferson county.
The law is not explicit as to what
the procedure should be, making a
friendly injunction suit almost
necessary.
It also appears that on account of
the failure of the law to specify
clearly as to how the adjustment
will be arrived at that other suits
may have to be instituted to get at
a legal and definite understanding
between the counties when the day
of settlement arrives next June.

exhaustive inquiry as to the facts.
It was conceded Informally that If
the cause of the accident were a mine
there probably would be no ground
for diplomatic action by the United
States, as the laying of mines is not
prohibited by an international conven
tion now In force.
Through following tho advice of a
British naval boarding officer to take
a course other than the one prescribed
by the German authorities the United

Steel
Wire!
Page wire is about twice as strong as other wires and being
made of coil spring steel has a power of resistance that is not
found in any other woven wire fence. Page wire is the only
wire known that is not affected by hot or cold weather, and Page
wire will not get slack unless the posts give away. We guar
antee Page Wire Fence to be the most satisfactory fence made
and can cite you to dozens of farmers and stockmen in this vi
cinity who have carefully compared Page Fence with other fences
on their farms and ranches and who will unhesitatingly say they
consider the Page Fence the best and the cheapest.
The "catalogue house" fence is made to sell cheap read the glowing description of the wonderful qualities of the wonderful fenceits wires are made of the strongest steel its
weave and knot is a perfect marvel but the hungry hog soon bores through itthe refractory cow soon learns that it can be torn down, and the cold nights and hot days soon slack
the wires while through the same trials or even twice greater the PAGE fence stands as good as new and even better for it has gained the reverential respect from the cow and the
hogs in sad experiences, and the man who thought that one fence was just as good as another has had his eyes opened. Fence COST does not always end with driving the last
staple. It depends on the fence. A good fence is a good investment. It is a protection against wire cuts to your horses; it is security against the ravages of the rabbit or the visit
of the coyotte. Tne loss of a good horse, the destruction of ten acres of grain by rabbits, the gleaning of a big field by your hogs after the crop is gathered will easily pay for $1 50
worth of fence. Without the fence tne loss is yours. Page Fence can be had in many different styles, to suit your needs, made in rolls of 20, 30 and 40 rods for economical stretch
ing. Page fence requires fewer posts than other fences as its wires stay tight.

Examine our fence; compare it with all others; ask the farmer
who has had several kinds; ask the man who doubted; ask the
man who did consider Page and then bought the other kind
because he got it "cheaper;" ask them why stock will avoid
Page Fence. There is a reason. Satisfaction goes with every

LoopB are turned at the factory in each end of every
line wire ol Page fence, and every roll of fence contains a
bunch of small coils by the use of which two rolls of fence
are joined together in the same manner as you would place
two keys on a ring at the same time, thus joining your
fonce together quickly and securely. This feature is of
Bpecial value Khould jou want at any time to change your
fence from one line to tinothm, as you can readily see it is
the work of but a very few minutes to turn the coils out of
the loop-ends.
