Mrs. John Bell is teaching the third grade this week in the absence of Miss Jane Allen who is nursing Roderick Lafollette. Miss Power has resigned as teacher of the second grade and her position has been filled by the ap pointment of Mrs. John Wigle. John Stevenson and wife re turned from Heppner the last of the week where they spent the holi days with Mr. Stevenson's parents. Fritz Peterson and Miss Dorothy Fox were married December 31 at the home of the bride's Darents, Dr. and Mrs. J. T. Fox. Rev. E. C. Newham officiated. George Millican is in from his ranch at Millican. He says that there is but little snow in his coun try and more would be welcomed by the stockmen there any time. Sheriff Knox and Commissioner Bfanchard are in the harness. Mr. , Knox was sworn in Monday morn ing and Mr. Blaqchard assumed his duties at the opening of court yesterday. ' Gilbert L- Hall of Warmspring was in the city the first of the week on business connected with the Indian agency. Mr. Hall would like to buy alfalfa hay and other supplies for the uses of the agency service. 0. L. Huff, manager of the Huff-Noble Auto Co., returned the -first of the week from a trip to Portland where, he ordered two 1915 Buicks. They will be here Saturday. The machines are the Model C, 25 h.p., electric lights, ""starter, etc. They will be placed on exhibition at the Central Garage. Call and see them. Mrs. Charles M, Elkins delight fully entertained the members of the "500" Club and a few invited guesta on Wednesday afternoon in honor of Mrs. Black of Baker who left this morning for home. Gist of Sisters was in Prine ville Monday. Snowfall has been unusually light in his vicinity this winter, he says. Mrs. Carey W. Foster and son, Arthur, returned the first of the week from Walla Walla where they have been visiting relatives. C. H. Ferguson of Roberts was in Prineville yesterday. He reports cattle wintering well. Black leg and rabies have caused considerable loss in that part of the country. P. B. Doak was committed to the asylum last night by the county authorities and a telegram was sent by Sheriff Knox to the state institution- An attendant will come for him tomorrow. The Ladies' Aid Society of the Presbyterian church will meet with Mrs. R. W. Breese on Thursday, Jan 14. at 2:30 p. m. As this is the first meeting of the new year it is hoped there will be a large attend ance as business of importance will come before it. C. M. Johnson left this morning for Redmond with two cars of cattle which he will ship to Portland Sat urday. A number of cars of Prine ville cattle will leave Redmond on that day for the Monday market in Portland. Those who expect to ship are H. Baldwin, Dixon Bros., and Mace and Cofoid. The ceremony was per formed by Rev. Ramsey. Because of the accident last week in which Miss Wonderly and Mr. Wagner's sister were injured, the wedding was not as elaborate as had been planned. Geo. S. Roberts, Win Sioncer, J. L. Owen, A. D. Norton and Lee Rooney were in from Millican-valley yesterday. They entered a protest before the county court in regard to the location of certain roads in their vicinity.
