' Commercial Club Concerts Extra Good The best concert of the winter season yet presented by the local band was that of last Sunday after noon. The Commercial Club was well filled with guests, many out-of-town people being present. The instrumental program was relieved by a song by Miss Conway, of the Crook County High School, and Jack Smith rendered a trom bone solo, both of which were well received and appreciated by the audience. Another program will be presented next Sunday afternoon as usual at 2:30 o'clock. Director Zinke is to be congratulated on the growing popularity of his concerts and the improvement noticeable by last Sunday's program. Pretty Home Weddirg A pretty home wedding was solemnized at noon Christmas day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sylvester, when their eldest daugh tir, Elsie L., and Dude B. Demaris were united in the holy bonds of matrimony. The ceremony, which was short but impressive, was per formed by Justice of the Peace A. R. Bowman. Immediately after the ceremony all present repaired to the dining room where a sump tuous repast, prepared by Mrs. Sylvester, was waiting and to which all did ample justice. Elkins Ross Robinson Gets a Kitchen Shower When it comes to "showers" the weather was not the whole show in that line this week. A "shower" occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Elkina on M mday even ing, and kitchen utensils of all kind and description, some useful, others ornamental and not a few of the deadly species were showered upon the unsuspecting Ros3 Robin son, the guest of honor, when he was.ushered into the house by Mr. Elkins. Accompanying c-ach article was a jingo or limerick, which Mr. Robinson was obliged to read to those present, to their great de light and occasionally to the victim's embarrassment. He will have roll ing pins, mulligan pans, clothes pin ; and kindred articles sufficient to meet every emergency that may arise in the course of his house keeping experience. There was a company of over 20 young people present, and after dainty refreshments were served by the hostess, toasts were given the prospective bridegroom, wishing him, in the aggregate, a million years of happiness. Christmas Carols. How sweetly sounded those old familiar carols as they were sung on Christmas Eve. A jolly crowd of young people with their hearts full of love. ' Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men," started from the Commercial Club singing lustily those familar words. Hark, the Herald Angel Sings," "It Was Bourne Upon the Midnight Clear," "Silent Night, Holy Night," and other carols. After the singing coffee and sandwiches were served at the Club, tnen all departed for home, their hearts imbued with the Christmas spirit, and feeling that they had sent out, not in vain, that message of old, "Christ is born at Bethle hem." n r Died Mrs. T. N. Rickman of Held. Ore gon, who was buried last Tuesday, was 31 years of asre: was married to T. N. Rickman of Franklin, Nj U, Dec. 11, 1906. She joined tie Baptist church when very young and lived the life of a consistent member until her death. Mr. and Mrs. Rickman came to ' Oregon in the spring of 1907, and have resided near Held ever since. She left a husband, three children, two sisters and one brother in Crook county, and three sifters and two brothers in North Carolina and many friends to mourn her loss, LOCAL MENTION Good sleighing in Prineville the first of the week.
