Shaniko Sheep Men Short of Feed Shaniko, Or. The sheepmen in this purt of Eastern Oregon are facing a serious problem, as to what to do for feed for their flocks when thy bring them in from the summer ranges in the mountain;, as this summer and fall have been exceptionally dry. and th re is practically no grass on the home ranges. They have plenty of hay for winter feeding, but if they have to begin feeding as soon as the shoep come in from the mountains, and an early winter follows, hay may become scarce before spring. As a gen eral thing the feed on the home ranges is good for a month or six weuks after the shoep are brought in from the mountains, about the middle of October, but this year is an exception, as there is no grass.
