Douglas Mullarky, the boy editor of the Redmond Enterprise, took in the fair yesterday. Douglas is only 15 years of age. If he keens up his newspaper work until he is 21 Redmond will not be big enough to hold him. He will be ready for a larger field. Mrs. Dearmond of Bend was a fair visitor today. Mrs. I. M. Mills and family of Paulina have moved into Prineville for the school this winter. The following railroad men are taking in the fair: J. T. Hardy, Oregon Trunk, and A. C. Martin, J. R. Stein and L. M. Foss of the O.-W. R. & N. Co. Race Track Lvents Continued from First Page though "Tampa" was crowded out of the pole in the first fifty yards, under the skillful jockeying of Deerfield he romped home winner. "Big Head" easily won second, winning place by a length, and "Paddy Britton," ridden by Jen kins, and "Little Jim," ridden by Osborne, finishld in the order named. The time for the mile was 3.52 and the purse tl50. Considerable skill and ability to successfully ride a rearing, bucking and determined horse was shown by the "buckaroos" who entered the bucking contest. With the excep tion of Ray, who could not secure a second mount, every one of those entered took tries, the judges final ly adjudging that "Shorty" Allan demonstrated the most ability on best bucker. The chariot race, a survival of the old Roman days, was undoubt edly the most interesting event of the afternoon and though there were but two entries, the finish was so exciting that with one con sent those present said that this race, the first one ever held, was so good that it should be a part of the program hereafter. The Green Chariot, driven by James Green, came in the winner over the Ben Hur Chariot, driven by Joe Buck ley. Green won only after he had lost the lead in the first circle of the track. The time for the mile was 3.424. Following the chariot race, which was the last event scheduled for the afternoon; an Indian horse race was put on, "Frozen Pace" winning by a length on "Fried Kggs." Old Chief Scratch-my- back came in second on "Papoose." Hay for Sale. Fifty tons choice alfalfa nt the NeWHom creek runch. No one was omitted and a a consequence ot these people' Inter est we expect to see the attendance double that ot last year. Patrons of the new school district No. 00 are having much dlllk'tilty In securing land for a school site. There are several offers of tree sites but to place the house central of the population It would have to be built on land belonging to William Wilson who owns a tract of 320 acre located directly In the renter of the district. Mr. Wilson lielng a non-resident and realizing that the value of his land will lie euhanced by a near-by school yet refuses to give or sell an acre t.r a school site. This the resident very much resent and It may las that Mr. Wilson will lie compelled by law to sell the needed land.
