Ings are put up. though the best re sults are obtniued where things are planned right from the start. In selecting n site for the house good drainage Is the first reiiulstte. A south or east slo;e Is generally to be pre ferred, while a north sfbpe Is undesira ble. In Its location give the bouse greatest prominence. The farmstead first of all provides a home, and the residence should stand out as the cen tral and most conspicuous feature ot the picture. To place the burn and other buildings In front of the house Is to reverse the logical order of things. Locate the house back far enough from the highway to afford privacy and give a good stretch of lawn In front and yet not so far back as to suggest a spirit of exclusion nor with a lawn so large that It cannot be properly cared for. The general farm buildings should be lo tbe rear of the farmhouse and the stable at least 150 or 200 feet away. Locate them to avoid odors be ing corrled to the house by the sum mer winds. So fur as practicable ar range the farm buildings to serve as a windbreak. Locate the yards on the side farthest from the house, tbougb It Is often an advantage to provide a paddock near the highway for the dis play of the farm herds. The business side of the farm must not be lost sight of. and special fea tures of the general building equip ment may 1 given prominence, such as the seed bouse or any other Impor tant feature of the place. Some Fly Don'ts DONT allow flies in your house. DONT permit them near your food, especially miik. DON'T buy foodstuff where flies are tolerated. DON'T have feeding places where flies can load them selves with dejections from ty phoid or dysenteric patients. DON'T allow your fruits and confections to b exposed to the swarms of flies. DON'T let flies crawl ever the baby's mouth and swarm upon the nipple of its nursing bottle. T7MGHT little flies Raising soms mors Swat! Swat! Swat!
