Swat Him !
Or, Better Yet
Prevent the fly from breeding by
screening s tables, keeping manure in
Blosed pita or bins end sprinkling it
with dry plaster or slaked lime.
Under the Swatter'! Banner.
Of course it isn't pleasant to think of
flies trailing their contamiuated winBS
over your food, but you can't make
war with rosewater, and civilization
bas declared war on the fly. There
fore you must think of these thiiii-'s.
If the pest is to be exterminated It
must be in the home, and every house
wife must become a crusader and
march under the sliin of the swatter.
When that instrument of man's su
premacy and enlightenment shall hang
over every mantel In the land even
displacing the crayon portrait of grand
father, if necessary then, ami not till
then, the fly's epitaph will be written.

; TO MAKE A FLYLESS CITY :
Cleveland Is to be classed and cata

First. To educate the people at to
lie deadly nature of the fly.
Second. To kill off all winter flies
those hidden about the houses, waiting
their teason of forage.
Third. To do away with all breading
places for fbes.
Fourth. To trap all fbea that happen
to escape.
As the first step n ldresses oil the

bo distributed among the children of
the schools, to be carried by them to
their homes; posters auj Illustrated
bulletins IU be placed In the schools
in the street cars and other public
places, carrying the sermou of the lly
reform.
The extermination of the winter fly
is a problem for the Individual house
keeper. IVn't let one fly escape you.
Hunt for them and kill them, for the
Muter tlv Is the most dangerous of the
- .... ... ...
race. The winter tty is tue runnier m
all uext summer's terrible throng.
To do away with the fly brooding
places Is merely a matter of cleanli
ness, for the fly Is n scavenger, a lover
of filth and au habitual follower after
nil that Is unclean and unwholesome.
Clean houses, gardens and yards, cleau
streets and alleyways discourage the
fly In Its breeding proclivities, and
therefore the d.Ktriue of cleanliness Is
to be preached by the nntl -fly cru
saders, along with the sermons on the
deadly character of the Insect.
Ami carrying out the fourth step all
the house furnishing stores In the city
will tie asked to carry In stock and
push the sale of fly trips, marvelous
little wire screen houses to bo baited
with milk, wherein a fly once entrap

education will be given complete In

which may bo placed on porches or
window sills, on garbage pails-any-wbere

outside of the house before it has a
chance to come in and spread its poi

Champ Smith's old stuml.
Although flies feed regularly upon
human foods in houses and stores, they
Eire equally fond of all sorts of filthy
matter and wilt wander back and forth
from one to tha other.
Dragging their germ laden feet and
,bodie over foodstuffs, they carry dis
! ease orma from infected filth to food.
We may thus take into our stomachs
' any germs accessible to the flies.
