Another large irrigation project in Crook county was foreseen, when C. W. Allen made application for 600 second feet of water at the source of Metolius river, where it gushes from the base of Black Butte. The project is to carry water in a canal for seven miles along; the river, then by tunnel through the divide for two and a quarter miles, which will make water available to 50,000 acres on ttia west of Deschutes river and south of Warm Springs reserva tion.
