Regulation of Oen Liner Proposed
Regulation of transatlantic liner to
prevent a repetition of the Titanic dis
aster 1 aimed at In a resolution intro
duced in th senate, upon which the
aenata foreign committee ordered a
favorable report.
Th resolution provide that the
nrealdent- of th United States shall
negotiate with other maritime powers
an agreement regulating sea lanes to
be used by the big liners, and for the
establishment of a uniform equipment
aboard the vessels and for their sys
tematlc Inspection.
Postmaster General Hitchcock has
addressed a communication to the
chairman of the house postofflce com
mittee, recommending lhat a provision
be Inserted In the pending postofflce
aunronriatlon bill, authorising tne pay
Inn of $2000. the ' maximum amount
prescribed by law, for payment to the
relatives of railway mnll clerks killed
while on duty, and to the families of
each of the three sea post clerks who
