It further appearing to the Court
that it I for the beet Interest of the
pnllie that said bridge oe con
structed ill a tirst-eliiss maiuier aud
that they lie of a permanent nature,
and the Court having heretofore
made full Inquiry Into tlie matter of
price and styles of bridges, abut
ments, etc., it is therefore deemed by
the Court advisable to forthwith
enter luto a contract under the pro
visions of Sec. U318uf U O. 1... to this
extent: that said couuty forthwith
coutract for the necessary material
for the coustrnctlon of each of said
Wldtfos; that the County Court shall
inspect nil material as to Its fitness;
that said Court shall Inspect all bills
for said materials and for the labor
necessary iu erecting suld bridged
and to this end It Is
Ordered by the Court that a con
tract beeutered luto by the County
Court of Crook county and theCoust
Bridge Company, au Oregon corpor
ation, for such bridges, which con
tract, among other things, shall call
lor all metal materlul fabricated
ready for the erection of two low
trns bridges, each bridge to be 100
leet loug and lti feet In width, tor the
sum of 12700 each, provided said
Coast Bridge Company shall furuish
a surety boud iu the sum of o400,
guaranteeing the furnishing of said
materials according to said contract,
plans, strain sheet and apecifications
Ikrreto attached and made a part
thereof, and It Is
Ordered that said contract further
provide for the labor of erecting said
bridges at the actual cost to Crook
coanty for lubor necessary for the
erection and completion of said
bridges, provided said bridge com
pany shall furnish a further surety
bond guaranteeing that in no event
vill such cost exceed the sum of
t 00 00 for the erection and com
pletiou of each of said bridges.
It Is further ordered that the writ
ten specifications consisting of six
typewritten pages for the materials
used in said bridges and the details
for the erection thereof, based upon
the hand book of the Carnegie Steel
Company, together with the blue
print of said proposed bridges, the
strain sheet and the surety bond
executed by the Xutional Surety
Company in favor of said Crook
county in the penal sum of 5,400,
guaranteeing the furnishing of all
material fabricated, as provided In
said contract and with a further
urety bond executed by the
National Surety Company In favor
of said Crook County in the penal
ii'ia of $i00, guaranteeing the
erection of the, said two bridges, as
more particularly set forth iu said
above contract, which said specifi
cations, blue print, strain sheet and
bomls are attached to and made a
part of said contract and they are
ordered filed with the County Clerk
of this Court for public reference aud
inspection.
And it is further ordered tuatO. E.
Woodward, civil and bridge engineer
of said Crook County, State of Ore
gon, be and Is hereby employed as
superintendent of and for said
bridges; that said superintendent
shall Inspect all materlul, as to its
fitness, and shall Inspect all bills for
material and labor aud certify to
their correctness, before they shall
be ordered paid by said court and
upon the completion of said bridge,
ahull prepare aud file with the clerk
of said court, a full and complete de
tailed statement, duly verified, giv
ing me name o the stream across
which said bridge is built, the name
or location of said bridge iu such a
manner that It may easily be found,
its eutlre length, width, amount and
cost of such kind of material aud
entire cost of said bridge, with a
brief general description of the style
and character of said bridge and of
its Immediate surroundings, as In
such cases made and provided by
statutes of the state of Oregon.
In the matter of a private change
in the I'rlueville-Dalles road by J. K.
Adamsonet al. Inasmuch as said
change does not increase the distance
nor the gradients to the Injury if
the traveling public said change Is
recommended by the board. It Is
therefore ordered that said road be
and the same Is hereby declared a
public highway.
