The experiment is be ing watched with Interest. t.n Glisan Got a Life Sentence A special to the Oregonian from The l'alles, dated November 13, aye William Glisan, who with a butcherknife murdered hit mother while the was working over a waeh tub at their ranch near Antelope, October 81, pleaded guilt; to a charge ol second-degree murder in the circuit court here and was sentenced to life imprisonment in the state penitentiary. Glisan committed the murder following a three weeks' debauch and was originally arraigned on a charge of first-degree murder and wag held without bail. Realising that he had but a slight chance of being cleared, he proposed to enter a plea of guilty in order that he might escape, the gallows. District Attorney Wil son consented and Glisan was sentenced by Judge Bradshaw. 1). A. Howell of Portland, form erly deputy sheriff of Wasco county, who shot and killed J. C. asylum, to which she was com mitted from this county on Sep tember 25. County Judge Duncan received notice from the superintendent of the asylum that she had been (lis-1 charged as cured November 12.
