caped a serious accident in coming
down the grade Monday, The
horse became unmanageable and
started to run. The girls jumped
out as the buggy started over the
rimrock. It was smashed to pieces.
The horse continued its flight but
was caught later on. Tho young
ladies were not hurt,
Roy Moss, chambion steer roper
of the northwest, and H.M. Averill,
a companion, arrived in I'rineville
last night. They are visiting at
the home of J. F. Morris. Most de
feated all comers at the Pendleton
round up held last .September.
His time was 1 minute and 7J sec
onds. John Morris is an Old school
mate of the young man' father.
S. S. Crawford of Culver was over
with a load of wheat Tuesday. He
is marketing his crop in Prineville
for tho simple reason, he says, that
he can get more for it here then by
selling it at the railroad. Hie grain
was of good quality, He has 112
acres in full sown wheat . that is
showing up well,
John Templeton left Hunday for
Portland on a business trip.

The regular monthly meeting of
the Ladie Annex will will be held
next Tuesday afternoon, November
7th. All members are requested to
bo present. The committee on en
tertainment has arranged for an in
teresting afternoon. .
The dance given Monday evening
under the auspices of the Ladies'
Annex was a very successful affair.
The many halioween decorations
furnished pleasure and amusement
to all. The ladies realized a neat
sum with which they will continue
their good work.

Hon. Michael Mulvehill of West
Branch is shaking hand with old
friends in Prineville this week.
The Collins Auto Co. commenced
daily auto service between Prine
ville and Redmond yesterday.
The cars leave Prineville at 5.30
a. to. and 4 80 p. m., connecting
with all trains.
A halioween dinner was given
at the Antler Club Monday evening.
There were six couples present.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Foster chap
eroned the party. After enjoying
the hospitality of the'elub the young
people were taken to the halioween
dance at the club hall.
Northern Lake couuty will vote
on the prohibition question at a
special election November 7th.
The sub iivisions are Silver Lake
precinct, Summer Lake precinct,
Paisley precinct, Lake precinct, and
Fort Rock precinct.

Hood River and Dalles
The Crook County High School
football team left this morning for
Hood River and Tbe Dalles. Tbe
boy play a mixed team in Hood
River tomorrow afternoon and will
play The Dalles high school team
Saturday. This is tbe first time
that a Crook county football team
has gone outside of tbe county for
a game and we hope the boys will
give a good account of themselves.
Hood Ri ver and The Dalles have
played five games. Four times to
a tie. The fifth game was won by
Hood River. Principal Coe ac
companied tbe team. The line-up
is as follows: Claypool, center;
Brink, Hoffman and Livingston,
guards; Holland McCallister and
Charlton, tackles; Charles Lowther,
Rowell, O'Neil and Cantrell, ends;
Meyers, quarterback and captain;
Yancey, R. and L. Lister, half
backs; Roy McCallister, fullback.
