Crops over there are short but
grain is of good quality.

were making an auto trip through

Saturday to help the Hub city
people celebrate the advent of the
iron horse. Redmond will be pre
pared to handle the crowds. Join

D. II. Peoples, while out Bhonting
rabbits Sunday, was lucky enough
to bag a young bobcat. He was on
the Adamson place, a mile below
town, when he shot a rabbit at a
distance ol 150 yards." While the i
rabbit was kicking the young bob
cat ran out to get it when another
shot put an end to its career.
Ralph Porfily was a business
visitor Monday. Mr. Porfily is
one ol our large sneopowners.
Twonty-two years igo he came to
this county empty handed and
herded sheep until he could start
in the .business for himself. liy

Mr. and Mrs. W. II. Teck of
Culver, got back Sunday evening
from an extended visit to relatives
in California. They took in all
the Bights worth seeing in both
Central and Southern California.
California is all right to live in
they lay, but for a place to make
money Crook county beats it all to
pieces.

No peaches in the John Day
valley i the latest report. Some
plums and apples in the foothills
but no peaches. Prineville people
who are depending on the John
Day fruit supply will have to go
elsewhere.
The Young Men's Club of Prine
ville will entertain their fathers
and friends at a banquet this even
ing at the Presbyterian church.
The question of providing ways
and means for furthering the oh
jecls of the club will be discussed.
The editor of ibis great religious
weekly returned Sunday from a
visit of two weeks to the Hot lake
Sanatorium in Union county. He
was looking for relief for iheuma

W. W. Brown and Jud Mc
pherson of Heisler, were in Prine
ville Tuesday on their way home
from the cattle drive in Southeast
ern Crook county.
An auto party from Columbus,
Neb., consisting of N. Matzen and
wife, W. T. Matzen and Lois Mat
zen, passed through Prineville
yesterday on their way home from
a trip to the coast.
The Modern Woodman of Ameri
ca at Redmond held a meeting
Tuesday evening at which they
initiated about a dozen candidates.
A chicken supper was served by
the Royal Neighbors. About one
hundred persons were present.
Eleven members of the Prineville
lodge attended the feast.
Crook county is receiving a
number of immigrants from Al
berta, Canada. A large family ar
rived at Culver last Sunday even
ing. They had enough of that
cold region. Snow from four to
six inches covered the ground on
the day of their departure for
Crook county.
