family. Mr. Merttching has a
place on Dry creek. He will be
followed by quite a colony of bis
Oregon City neighbors. They are
just the kind ol settlers we need
(!. M. Slocum, cashier ol the
Redmond Hank ol Commerce, was
a business visitor Tuesday. lie
says that Redmond is getting
ready to handle the Prineville
business when the road reaches
that place. Freight received one
day in Redmond should be landed
in Prineville the next. Nothing
to it. September 1 will see the
rails laid to the Hub City, Mr.
Slocura says.

after business, Mr. Wyman says
that Prineville is one ol the best
towns in the interior.

Monday by team lor the Willam
ette valley to sHnd the summer.
They will first go to Hrownsville
(or a visit and later will rent a
cottage at Newport fur a couple of
months.
Harry Wyatt ol Portland, a
brother o( Rev. George Wyatt, is
hereon a visit. Mr. Wyatt was
through this country twenty-five
years ago and notes great changes
since that time. He may como
here and settle,
Robert A. Howes, not Elkins,
wus the name ol the man brought
in Irom M mints last week who was
thought to be crazy. Dr. lielknap
examined the man and adjudged
him insane. Ho was taken to the
asylum last Friday.

of lieuulien, Wimbledon Park,
Surrey, England, will take the
