John Combs and others were
school kids, Mr, lillard died a
few years ago at Hums.

I'rineville Hotel. A. D. Charlton,
assistant general passenger agent
of the Northern Pacific had charge
of the visitors. The party left this
morning in four automobiles for
Klamath Falls, which they ex
pect to reach tonight.
Mr. and Mrs. L. Kamstra, who
spent a good deal of last week in
Portland visitinsr the Rose Festi
val and the Jewelers' convention,
returned Saturday, very much
refreshed by the trip.
Rev. Mitchell Dead.
Word was received in I'rineville
today from Bend that Rev. Mit
chell was dead.
He had got back from a trip to
Portland where he had been to see
some Shakespearean plays. On
his return home be suffered a
severe attack of his old complaint
stomach trouble and a neigh
bor was secured to. stay with bim
on his homestead above Bend. It
was while the neighbor was away
Wednesday that he died some
time between 8 and 10 o'clock.
Mr. Mitchell was about C5 years
of age. At 17 he joined the army
and took part in the struggle be
tween the North and the South.
After the war he went to Europe
to complete bis studies. For
thirty years Mr. Mitchell has
preached west of the Roclcies. He
was pastor of the Presbyterian
church in Prinevill9 for several
years, leaving here to take up a
homestead on the Deschutes where
be died.
