The contract was let the first of
the week for the completion of the
new Baptist church. The super
structure will be of wood instead
of stone. While the members of
the church did not like to change
their plans, they thought it was
better to use wood and be frej
from debt than to have a stone
church with indebtedness. Mr.
Pancake, the contractor, will finish
the building at once. The Baptists
are the oldest church organization
in the city. The' church was or
ganized in April, 1873.

Sunday but a they were to play
at Rend sent the boy. When La
monta saw the little fellow they
felt somewhat chagrined and re
marked that if they couldn't beat

boy very long to convince the b,g
fellow that they could play the
game.
The boya of Hend and Prineville
had a good game of ball Saturday.
Tbe little fellows of tbe fifth and
sixth grades plaved good hall.'
The Hend boy started off with a
lead of four, but Prineville over
hauled them and led by three
runs. lu the ninth inning the
score was a lie ami lu the tenth
each team made a run, but in tl'e
eleventh Rend made one and
Prineville two, thus winning the
game. I ho teams were pretty
