The statute further provide that, "Whenever the tax collector dis covers tuat any property has been iwwel more than once for the same year, he shall collect only the tax justly due thereon, and shall make return to the county court ofthe balance as double assessment, and shall bs pmperly credited thfreter; and whenever, at any stage in the collection ol tares, the officer hanng charge of the rolls shall din-over errors or omissions of any kind therein he may properly correct the same to conform to the facts in what ever :uanner may be necessary to make such assessment, tax, or other proceeding whatsoever regular and valid, such correc tion to be made in red ink, or otherwise dfetingnisbed, and to be signed with the initials ot the officer making the same and the date of such correction.
