who returned from tho North
yesterday, whore he had gone to
Inspect the right of way, said to
day that thoro had recently been
a great awakening In northeast
ern California and southern Or
npon. and that he has great con
fidence In the future agricultural
possibilities of those parts of the
two states.
As a result of tho irrigation
system north of Lakeview, he
said, 40.000 additional acres of
land would be planted to grain
In the Gooso Lake Valley. In
addition to this, 50,000 afires
wore capablo of raising splendid
fruit.
"Lake County, with its large
area of tillable lands for the
homoseeker, and great opportu
nities, togother with the coming
of the three railroad lines that
are headed toward the county,
has the greatest opportunities of
any section of the West, saia
Mr. Duniway.
When Lakeview gets the rail
road November 1, the citizens
will give the people that come
here the warmest reception they
ever had In the West. There
will be Wild West shows, Indian
encampments, boxing exhibi
tions, cowboys' roping contests,
bucking contests and numerous
other original and unique stunts,
