This Is to Certify, That you are entitled under
the Carey Act to 1 60 acre of land in the famous Powell Butte
country absolutely free; that you are further entitled to have
fint choice of 6000 acre just thrown open to entry by the
Central Oregon Irrigation Company; that if you present this,
certificate at once to the undersigned, you will not be required
to become a hardy pioneer and live away from civilization,
schools and churches and 50 or 100 miles from railroad but
you will be allowed to select your land only 6 or 7 miles from
Prineville in a well settled country and only 10 or 12 miles
from railroads ACTUALLY BUILDING; that you will not
have to depend on rainfall to insure a crop but you will have a
perpetual water-right which will cost you only $40 per irri
gable acre; that you will be allowed to pay one-fourth of this
down and the balance in 5 equal annual payments; that you
will be given three years in which to establish residence and
make the necessary improvements; that you will not be re
quired to live on the land five years but only 30 days if your
improvements are sufficiently good; and furthermore that you
will not be required to pay any location fee.

March, 191 1, or any other day to be the best proposition for
homeseeker in Crook County, Oregon.

those musically inclined was held
Wednesday evening at the Presby
terian church in thin city and
tteps trere taken to e ffect a perma
nent organization of a choral
union.
After discussing the benefits to
be derived from such an organiza
tion a committee on organization
was elected, compoised of a chair
man and two members from each
of the churches of the city and on
iiixt Wednesday evening a perma
nent organization will probably be
effected.
The matter of observing Decora
tion Day in Prineville was dia
cuspcd and the spirit of patriotism
of those assembled was demon
strated and a committee wan ap
pointed to wait upon the several
churches, lodges and other organi
zations of the city to enlift their
co-operution in fittingly observing
this day when the nation pays
tribute to its honored dead.
All muHicians ol the city are re
quested to aHsemblu at the Presby
terian church on next Wednesday
evening at 7;30 o'clock and assist
in the preparation of music suit
able for the proper observance of
Decoration Day.

Contracts for the erection of five
new passenger stations on the Des
chutes line of the O.-W. R. & N.
Co. were awarded to Moore Kroa.
of Portland and work on their
construction will be started at
once.
Three of these structures one
each at Hunts Ferry, Gateway and
Madras will have general dimen
sions of 24 by 70 feet and will be
two stories high at one end. It is
estimated that they will cost 14500
each. The two others will be
erected at Kargar and Pax ton re
spectively and will cost about
12000 each. They will be 24 by
70 feet and one story high.
The Hunts Ferry, Gateway and
Madras stations will be fitted up
with facilities for both freight and
passenger service, commodious
waiting-rooms for the public, of
fices and several rooms to be used
as quarters by the agents.

Journal says that the Oregon dele
gate has been requested to work
for the creation of another land of
fice, either at Prineville, Bend or
Madras. The members desire that
a general canvass be issued to
bring to them a reflection of senti
ment throughout regioas affected,
thus enabling them to act in ac
cordance with the popular will.
