Persuant to continuation heretofore

Montgomery precinct No. 4, and H. A.
Brown is hereby appointed road super
visor for Haystack precinct Xo. 6, J. I.
Windom having failed to qualify ; and
M. J. Lemons is hereby appointed
road supervisor for Hardin precinct No.
19, Joseph Street, who Wis heretofore
appointed having failed to qualify. 8.
Nase is hereby appointed road super
visor for Kutcher precinct, the former
appointee having failed to qualify.

Whereas, the Opal City Land Com
pany and the Oregon Trunk Railway
have hied, in the above entitled court.

of certain streets m the townsite of
Opal City, in Crook county, Oregon
and
Whereas, said petitioners have caused
to be posted in three conspicuous places
within the townsight of Opal City a
copy of the notice tteting that a pe
tition for the vacation of the Baid
streets has been filed and will come up
for hearing in thiB court on Wednes
day, March 1st, Mil, as more par
ticularly appears fium the affidavit of
Harold E. Beard, which has been duly
filed In this court ; and
Whereas, the said petitioners have
prepared and tiled in this court the
hard paper map and linen tracing show
ing the streets to be vacated, in ac
cordance with the laws of Oregon ; and
nereas, it ap pears from the said
amended petition that the petitioner.
Oregon Trunk Railway, is the owner of
a Btnp of land three hundred feet wide
across that part of Baid townsite in
which the streets hereinafter men
tioned are located ; and
V hereas, the Opal City Land Com
pany is the owner in fee simple of all
the land abutting on the streets and
alleys hereinafter named ; and
Whereas, the petitioners, Opal City
Land Company ami Trunk RrailwayJ
are the only pers3i,s who will be af
fected by the vacation ot said streets
and alleys ; and
Whereas, it appears to the court that
it will be to the best interests of the
petitioner and the public to have the
streets hereinafter described vacated,

Northern Express Company and

Hank roads. Tho express ser
vice, initiated tnis ween, trans

Orefron Trunk at Madras at 1
nt a pound, which is consider
able of a reduction from the
Shaniko rate of 1 cents. Ollicers
of the sUige company say it will
make a greater protit at 1 cent
from Madras than at the old rati
from Shaniko, as the haul is bul

Passengers are carried from
Prineville to Madras for $-.50 by
stage or $5.00 by automobile.
Lsoth mouif of conveyance are
constantly available. The stage
leaves Prineville for Madras at
a. m. and makes the trip in five
hours. Coming this way, stages
leave Madras betv.-een 7 and 8 a
m. Automobiles leave here now
at 3 p m., making the trip in less
than two hours. Later 4 p. m.
will be leaving time, and finally,
during the summer, autos will
leave at 5 o'clock in the morning
so as to connect with the Oregon
Trunk train No. 101, which
leaves Madras at 7:50 a. m. Thus
a passenger will be enabled to
enabled to reach Portland tho
same day he loaves Prineville,
and make the trip by daylight.
