Title Talks
"Balky Deeds."
Yon all know about balky horse
have met the fellow who bought one
without knowing it at the time, upon
the assurance of the seller that the
animal waa "all right."
Was he more foolish than the man
who paid the last dollar on the price of
a tract of land without first lcoking up
the title?
The search he afterwards made
showed a slinky and defective title full
of balky deeds, conveyances that do not
convey a complete break in the chain.
We will furnish an abstract either be
fore or after you buy the land.
Have the titled investigated. Do it
now.

A Busy Place.
A balf-miie north of the eld
Culver postoflice on tbe Hoffman
place, which is now owned by
Max Wurzweiler and II. Ifaldwin
is situated a well that suppliis
water for all the residents in a
territory ten miles square.
The well, which is in charge of
Frank Hunter, is aa busy a place
as the grist mill in most' com
munities, and on Saturdays and
Mondays, which are the .water
hauling days at this season there
is a constant line-up of teams.
Many of the farmers have wagons
with water tanks built onto them,
and these are driven up to the side
of the large tank which is filled by
the use of a gasoline engine and
a ccntrifical pump. The end of a
large hose is dropped into an open
ing in the wagon tank after a sys
tem not unlike that of loading
water into a tank on the railroad
tender. xThe proceps of loading a
wagon takes but a few minutes,
and as manv as forty wagons are
loaded at this well in a single day.
Tbe water is pumped from a
sixteen foot well and is lifted bv a
six-horsepower engine fo a height
of about twelve ftet into a tank
12 x 16 feet and eight feet deep.
J ne charges for tbis water are
very slight and are paid by the
month according to the number of
head of stock tbe user hauls water
for.. There is a grain chopper
which is operated by the same
gasoline engine and all together
this is as busy a place as the pie
counter at a country fair.
