New School Building Continued from first pge. make it practical for us to ship fir flooring or some other good floor ing in for the building, (or we have found that pine flooring is not satisfactory in a public ecbool. Dr. II. P. JJjlknap said, "I have been on the school board here more than half the timo since we erected the present building twenty-three jears ago, and I have teen enough of the poor and ill kept buildings to make me want to put a good building on those ground, and when that is done my place on the board ia rendy for a younger man. I have thought bout a new building for year, and when it goes op I want it to go up right. It should be stone, or brick with stone trimmings, and not less than ten room?, and those large ones. Nothing smaller should be talked about. There should be a big assembly room for debates and society meetg bo that the school would not be dependent upon other building. I think it can be arranged to throw several rooms into one for this purpose by the use of folding or disappearing doors. Plans should be perfected and a contract let next year, if possible, and when school is out bave a big crew of men ready to begin the actual construction work. T. II. Lafollctfe said: "Of course I am always in favor of anything that ie for the best educational in terests of. the community, and in this matter I can think of nothing that would do more good for the community than a new school building, and that as soon as possi ble. At the close of the school next spring is the latest date that should be considered. The condi lion is even worse, I think, than most voters realize, and prompt and positive action is essential. ".My idea ia to have a building constructed that would be good and in good repair fifty years from now, and to pay for it by a system of bonds so that it would not be felt by the voters. As many as forty annual payment) in small amounts is a good idea, I think, if such a thing is possible, and in that way the matter of cost becomes secondary. "I want to be conservative in the matter, however, and see a good serviceable building go up, one that will be large enough to meet ail need for years to come. Important.
