The new planer and shingle mill
for the Btrdsong & Amnion saw
mill at Maury mountains was
brought In from Shaniko Monday.
They were forwarded to their dls
tluatlon yesterday. They will be
put In operation as soon as they
can be set up.
C. J. Johnson haa bought the lands
commonly known as the Castle ranch.
The tract contains almost 2000 acres
and lies Intact, in one of the best
cattle districts In the county. The
consideration was 7. 50 per acre or
a little over tU.000. Mr. Johnson
will move bis cattle to the new loca
tion next sprlug aud will make It his
headquatcrs for his large cattle
Interests after that time. The lands
were purchased from Shattuck &
Ogler who have used them for cattle
range for years.
T. II. Lafollett will plant two or
three acres of apple and other kinds
of fruit treea In addition to his
Powell Butte orchard In the near
future. There are some thirty acres
or more that are adapted to orchard
and will be planted gradually In
addition to that already bearing.
There are three large springs on the
place which will, with proper care,
provide ample water for the orchard
lands. The trees now beating are
loaded with fruit this year and a
good crop of all varieties is assured

had some Improvements made to

are hard at work practicing for a
musical which will be given ' on
