William -Eads Held for Larceny Mon William KaJ was up Justice of the Peace lWnier lay, charged with ferreJ by Gilbert Ljwsoo. Lawson cam to Frinmlle on March Si for the purpose of paying a few small Mils and to buy tome farm implement. His in tentions were ail right and he car ried them out until he reached the machinery pt of hi plana. Then he missed hi wad. To begin, Mr. Laon drew a rum of money out of the bank and paid uft some email obligation?. 11 tlen went to the store of Li rely-Jordan- Lanius Co. and bought f ome farm machinery. Xot only, bought i, but oblieingly helped carry it to the sidewalk. This is where he made hi mistake for somehow in the carrying act he dropped hi bank roll of 1130 in currency. At least that where he thought he dropped it when be learned that Ead had picked up a roll at that place. Ead put the money in hi pecket with the remark tiat itas a wonder he hadn't lost it. Colonel Drsper, who was standing by, expostulated with htm for being so careless. Mr. Praper swore on the witness stand that lie eaw Eads reach down and pick up a roll of cur rency that was lying on the plat- form near his shop. It was on thi platform that the farm ma chinery stood. It was brought out in the evidence that Ead had been to the tack himself that morning and drew out some money. There was a dispute over the denomina tion of the bills. Lawson was paid in one kind and Eads in an other, making a pretty compli cated rase out of it. From the evi dence adduced Judge Uernier con cluded to hold Ead to the May term of tie circuit court. 11 bonds were placed at 4300, which sum was furnished and Ead? given his liberty.
