.The right of way differences be
tween Hill and IUrriman for pos

been lettled, .- .
This adjustment his been ac

would be by the withdrawal of
one railroad from the field, bat in
such shape that both roads will
now be free to rush construction
to the interior of the state. The
two railroad will be built and tbe
prospects are bright that both will
be !n operation to Central Oregon
during the coming summer, says
the Oregonian.
... Under the terms of the agree

the following were elected: President.
Wllford Belknap; vice-president,
Clarence Rice; secretary, I.otta
Smith. This was followed by a pro
gram that did credit to every mem
ber who appeared. The first number
an Instrumental duet by Misses I-e-ola
Estes and Georgia (leek, was
vigorously aud deservedly encored.
This was followed by an oration,
"The Treason tt Ilenediet Arnold,"
by Wllford Belknap, who ajways
does well but who showed excep
tional talent In this selection. The
review of Cooper's "Last of the Mo
hicans," by Miss Lot ta Smith, was
thoroughly enjoyed by every member
of the society, and we hope that
while this Is the first It may not be
the last book review heard In society.
Walter Larwood's talk on the "Pan
ama Canal," was interesting and In
structive. The reading by Donald
Burleigh and the recitation by Clark
Morse added a bit of humor to the
program. Clark showed much un
8UHectod talent In declamation
which the society is not going to
forget. The Ochoconlan News, ed
ited by Clarence It lee, assisted by
Mh-ses Leola Kates and Mabel Doak,
was a number of this famous periodi

Alaaa.
One of the features of society, Fri
day, was the election of officers, who
are as follows: Miss Louise Sum
mers waa re-elected president; Mis
Wllda Nye, vice- president; and War
ren Yaneev, secretary. Program
committee, Mlsxes Fay Baldwin and
Blanche Wilson and Koy McCalllster.
The program was a mock trial.
The accused, Clarence Blsby. who
was on trial for maliciously throw,
lug Vernon Bell's tennis shoe down
the ventilating shaft, was acquitted
by the Jury. His lawyer, Warren
Yancey, showed much ability and
legal knowledge as did Roy Lowther
the prosecuting attorney.
