compound fracture of the leg. Dr.
Edwards was called to attend the
injured man.
Mr. and Mrs. Wlltse of Eugene,
passed through town Sunday on
their way to Bear Creek, where they
will spend the winter with their
daughter, Mrs. Dunham.
In a letter from Mrs. R. O. Smith It
was stated that Percey had returned
from Chicago. Bob and family are

Dr. Belknap was called to Madras j
Saturday to see Dave Barnett. He j
made the trip In bis auto and bad
quite a time with bad - road. Mr.
Barnett Is reported much Improved.
E. II. Overman, editor of the Shnui

charge of forgery. He is also wanted
at Spokane for Issuing checks on a
bank In which he had no deposit.
Overman has had a varied news
paper career. He started tjio Star
about a month ago.

have had their hands full for weeks

ing cosh for goods. Nearly every
body seems to have a bank account .

W. A. Booth and wife left Monday
day for Mexico where they will spend
the wluter. They will spend a wwk
with their daughter, Mrs. Price of
Salem, before continuing their
Journey. G. M. Cornett will Join Mr.
And Mrs. Booth at Salem and to
gether they will tour Mexico. The
trip will lie one of business as well as
pleasure, as It is the Intention of
these gentlemen to acquire some
property In our southern neighbor's
territory.

this season and received an average

Charles Congleton, who Is em
ployed in the forest service, and Miss
Glee Laughlln of Paulino, were mar
ried in Vancouver, Wash., on the
afternoon of Decemlier 14. They
arrived in Prlnevllle last evening and
will stay until after the holidays
when they will go on to Paulina.
An uncle of the Caswell children
who lost their parents by typhoid
fever recently, write to the county
authorities here that he is ready and
willing to adopt the children a his
own. He Is a railroad man and
states that If the children are taken
to the railroad he wilt come and get
them. An effort Is now being made
to get the children together to be
sent to him.
