Headed for Crook
To bring the Hood river valley
into direct communication with
central Oregon and to connection
with the Oregon Trunk Line's Des
chutes road at a point in Crook
county, owners of the Mount Hood
Railroad company are now plan
ning a 75 mile etention of the
line, tapping the vast agricultural
and timber regions south of Hood
river valley.
W. II. Eccles of Hood River,
president of the Hood River Rail
road company, which operates
trains between Hood River and
Farkdale, Ore., a distance of 22
miles, is authority for the state
ment, fays a Portland dispatch.
"Just at present," paid Mr.
Eccles, "we have reached no final
decision as to when work on the
extension will be begun, but our
plans are far enough along to war
rant our saying work will begin
very soon."
Several months ago, announce
ment was made that David Eccles
of Utah, owner of the Sumpter val
ley road, proposed to extend his
railroad to interior Oregon to con
nect with the extension to be made
by the Mount Hood railroad.
