AlpU Sadety.
The regular meeting of the fociety
, was hsH on Friday, September 18th.
The president and vice president were
both absent, having finished the high
school last year, hence it devolved upon
the secretary, Maggie Cox, to call the
meeting to order and proceed with the
election of officers. The new officers
were: President, Louite Sumnitrs;
vice president, Maggie Cox; secretary,
Vernon Bell. Program committee, Roy
Lowther, chairman, Wilda Nye and
Warren Yancey, assistants. The new
students visited their respective so
cieties but will not sign the constitution
until the next meeting, in the mean
time it will be posted for their inspec
tion. The Alphas won two ont of the
three contests last year and while the
class of '09 took some of our faithful
workers, yet we feel that victory will
again be ours.
OcKocooua Society.
The first meeting of the Ochoconian
Literary society was called to order by
Clark Morse, president pro tern, there
being no officers of the previous year
present. The following officers were
elected: President, Clark Morse; vice
president, Lotta Smith ; tec etary,
Ethel Kidder. YVilford Belknap and
Emerien Young were appointed to make
out the programs for the first semester.
The Ochpconians won the Wincek cup
and first place in the oratorical contest
last year and may we not only retain
these honors but add other laurels to
our crown.
Frubaca.
Fourteen pnpils'were enrolled in the
freshmen class, Monday, September

Three new members, Lee Rowell of

Burns Montgomery, registered the

Sophomore.
The sophomores have elected the fol
lowing ofllcera for the year: President,
Roy Lowther; vice president, Gladys
Doak; secretary, Maggie Cox. We all
wish them well and hope that the
sophomore class will take its place
among the honor winning classes of the
Crook County High School.
Junior!.
The juniors will edit a column in the
"Review."
Blanch Wilson, who has been spend

glad to welcome her back.
Alex Barnes was nnable to begin the
first week but is with us now.
Senior.
At the senior meeting held last week
the following officers were elected:
President, Emerien Young; secretary,
Agnes Elliott.
The class decided to use the proceeds
of the junior play in purchasing a bust
of America's greatest poet, Longfellow,
for the high school building. This is
the first donation of this kind but we
trust it w ill not be the last, as the ex
ample net by the seniors is a commend
able one and we hope the other classes
n ay be able to follow in their footsteps.
Two of our members, Ethel Moore
nee oroSo
and Louise Summers, are registered in
the teacher's training course and are
very enthusiastic over the work.
Lulu Montgomery, one of our old stu
dents, registered in the training course
Monday.
The seniors are putting forth every
effort to have a gtod Industrial exhibit
at the county fair. Every member has
promised to place something on exhi

When Dawson reached town ho was

Consequently Dawson threw himself

"How much, doctor?" asked ths pa

"Ten dollars." said the dontlft, busi

"Ten dollars!" roared Dawson.
"Yes. sir," said the dentist "It was

William Wirt's letter to bis daughter

a deal of happiness might bo learned:
"I want to toll you a secret Tho way
