all, of Madras, was in Prlnevllle the
first of the week, having returned
from a trip to Clackamas couuty,
where he went after a man named
Caldwell, who claims to have been
robbed of about ?2S0 at Madras
recently. No report on this case
was made by the grand jury.

by power, for the purpose of seeing
that all exposed parts are made safe
for operators. All exposed cog
gears, revolving set screws or any
part that might catch the clothing
nnd cause accidents are by him di
rected to be covered over, and incase
his directions are not followed, under
the law he has the authority to close
down the plant until the safety ap
pliances have been Installed.

The annual picnic of the student
body of the high school was held last
Friday at a grove on Henry Cram'
place up the Ochoco. The usual
pastime of young iieople' picnics
were Indulged in and a basket dinner
partaken of.
The grand ball given last Friday
evening by the Commercial Club wa
a pronounced success. While the
crowd wns not a record breaker the
hall was just comfortably filled w ith
dancer and the music furnished by
Morgfin's orchestra wns of the
highest order.
Forest Supervisor A. S. Ireland
and Kanger B. F. Johnson went to
Antelope during the past week to
hold a meeting with the sheepnun
who use range in the Blue Mountain
reserve. Another meeting for the
same purpose is to lie held at
Mitchell today and tomorrow, the
officers expecting to return home

During the past week the Emporium
has had a fine patronage and Mr.
Brosius is giving entire satisfaction
to the public.
T. J. Ferguson arrived home this
morning from a trip into Texas
where he went to look after the pur
chase of some real estate. Mr.
Ferguson bought some land in the
neighborhood of Houston, and
seems to be well pleased with the
result of his trip. He went south
through California and returned by
way of the Oregon Short Line.
