power site at Steelhead Falls, four miles
below Lower Bridge on the Deschutes
river. Their ultimate purpose is .to

straightdropof 20 feet in the Deschutes.

Harney County Development Company
on the site of Lower Falls, the first fall
below Lower Bridge, about two mi'e

voted down the proposal to bond
the district for the purpose of build

Redmond Wednesday to get his
horses which strayed awny from
their usual haunt and were picked
up by parties who saw Mr. Jones'
advertisement in the Journal and
brought the horses In to Prlnevllle.

Charles S. Congleton, forest ranger
under Supervisor Ireland, returned
from Seattle, Wednesday, where he
has been taking a three-months'
course in forestry at the University
of Washington. This is a special
short course given at that institu
tion nnd I the only one of it kind In
the Uulted States, having been In
stituted nt the solicitation of the
forest service. There were forty-two
enrolled for the course, the persons
attending bailing from Montana,
Idaho, Washington, Oregon and all
of the northwesteru states.

the high school, the Alpha won by

school students, the faculty and a
few outsiders witnessed the game.
City Recorder C. L. Shattuck an
nounces that he expect to resign

meeting next Tuesday evening. Mr.

Fifty New Members
The Board of Trustees of the Commer
cial Club during the past two days hai
been making s heart to heart canvass
of the business men of the town in
campaign for 50 new members to the
club, which are to go in as charter
members, doing away with the formality
of posting their applications, etc. Up
to noon today about twenty-five new
name had been added to the list and
more have been promised.
The annual meeting of the club will
be held Tuesday evening, April 13, s
formal notice appearing elsewhere in
this issue.
The 90th Anniversary of the 1.0.
O. F. and Rebekah's lodge will bo
celebrated the 26th of April.
