We are going over our stock making inventory and find that it will be necessary for us to
reduce several lines to make room for new spring goods now on the road. Toward this
end we are offering these goods at reduced prices and when we lower our regular price
the careful buyers know that it means
ROCK BOTTOM PRICES for DEPENDABLE GOODS
These reductions are all on new, clean, bright goods not shelfworn remnants but we
need the room they fill and can show you many better values than you can get elsewhere
See Our 5 CENT BARGAIN COUNTER
We have'placed upon it numerous uselull little articles which
usually sell at 10c Everything on this counter, each 5c

Afraid Deschutes
WW Run Dry
Bend, Or., Jan. 23. Alarmed
over the recent decision of the Ore
gon supreme court in regard to
water and waterpower right?, and
fearing that they might be left
entirely without water, the riparian
landowners along the Deschutes
river, in this section, have sent a
petition to their legislators at
Salem, asking them t use their
influence in securing a provision
in the proposed new water code
which will leave them their vested
right in, and to, sufficient water
for stock and domestic purposes,
including light, heat, lawns and
gardens, irrigation, etc.
They have also written to State
Engineer Lewis as follows;
"Knowing that yourself and
others are drafting a new irriga
tion bill, and appreciating the
sense of justice and fair play which
has always been shown in your
dealings with the people of this
sections, we take the liberty of ask
ing you in behalf of the many
riparian owners along the Des
chutes, to incorporate in the new
bill a measure which will insure
the riparian owners enough water
to furnish power and light for
the home and for the irrigation of
the garden and lawn, and ' water
for stock.
"Many of us took homesteads
along the banks of this stream
with the sole purpose and intention
of using the water for the genera
tion of power and light for domes
tic use thereby creating homes
with all the advantages of the city.
We all realize that the greater
portion of the water of this river
must be used for irrigation and it
is right that it should be so, but at
the same time we think it only
just and equitable that the ripa
rian owners should be insured the
right to a small portion for their
home use."
