Redmond News.
REDMOND, OKEGOX. DEC, 27.
Wives of tbe Woodmen jjot their
beads together not long since and
the result was they stormed the
local camp last night during a special
meeting. For ammunition they
were supplied with plenty of rounds
of biscuits, pickles, beans, cheese,
nuts, cake and coffee and the Wood
men were not long in capitulating.
We hope that this is only tbe begin
ning of a series of social events iu
which Woodmen and prospective
choppers shall take the leading part.
The ladies seemed to enjoy surprising
as much as the men liked to be sur
prised. E. O. Getchell and wife departed
for White Salmon, Wash., last Mon
V day, where they wllj s-perjil the
j. ' summer. Tiiey plan then to return,
build better and further Improve
their place on which they have made
a nice beginning this fall. Mr.
Worrell will have charge of the place
the coming year.
A. O. Walker and wife from the
Johnson ranch neighborhood are
visiting with II. A. Meyers and fam
ily over Christmas time.
Mr. Martin, father of Mrs. Kendall
and Mrs. Kenyon, is here visiting
from North Dakota.
We note the oldest son of D. C.
Hall among the new arrivals. We
are glad to welcome the young man
to the community.
C. L. Lowther exjiects to move to
Redmond this week from his Trail
Crossing farm. He has rented rooms
In the Lauderbnck building and will
begin a series of meetings for the
Methodists next Sunday night.
McLallin and young have a forty
acre Job of clearing just west of C. M.
Redtield's farm.
The sale of town lots has been
quite brink the past week. Kirk
Whittd bought two and Perry Smith
four. Both will proceed to Improve
Immediately.
The Sunday School entertainment
Thursday night brought out what
was probably the Mggvst Indoor
crowd ever assembled In Redmond.
It Is thought that over two hundred
were present. The Sunday School
room was taxed to Its utmost. If
some of the little folks were a little
disconcerted at so many beinj pres
ent and forgot their lines and If the
teamwork was not always perfect
It Is not to be wondered at or laid
up against them. Even Santa Clans
remembered how things looked at
his first appearance here three years
ago and wondered where so many
people came from.
Mrs. Tuck Is reported as leing ill
in bed.
Clint Woods, B. J. Henuinger and
E.C. Park will be visitors at the
Gist sawmill this week.
The long dry epell Is being broken
this evening by the appearance of
water In the ditches. - ' -
C. X. Ehret moved yesterday Into
his new house and the family Is now
pleasantly situated. It is a well
arranged, commodious home. A
dormer window overlooks the town
and gives a good view of the moun
tains in the distance. We shall be
glad to see others build as well.
We did not have a full report of the
election of Sunday School officers to
day, but heard that Mrs. W. B.
Chapman was elected suieriiiten
dent. We hoped in this letter to given
brief resume of some of the Improve
ments thut have been in progress in
the vicinity of Redmond during the
past year, but did not get the ma
terial In shape. When the Improve
ments of a year are bunched together
they make a showing of which we
have reason to be proud.
