BEST CCURTHOUSE IN OREGON
Continued from page 1.
Oregon. He bad not a criticism
nor a suggestion to make far its
betterment.
Quite s number of important
changes ha9 been made in the
plumbing and heating systems
which were not specified in the
original contract. Instead of in
f'a'.ling a few large radiators an
e ual amount of radiation will be
given by using a larger number of
E nailer radiators. This means
extra feed and drainage pipes, ex
tra threads to be cut, extra "TV
and "LV to be put in and extra
globe valves and automatic vents.
Yet it will not cost the county a
cent more. These changes will
effect a great saving in fuel, time
and money, because the heat can
be adjusted to the needs of the
weather. Contractor Shipp is also
making changes in the plumbing
system that will add to the con
venience and sanitation of the
building. The difference in ex
penditure is also boine bv bim. J.
A. Bernardi of the firm of Bernar
di & Dunsford of Salen, is super
intending the steam fitting and
plumbine. He is one of the best
in the state in his line.
Every detail . is being lookeJ
after by the contractor, in many
cases to the detriment of his own
profit and in each of these in
stances the county is the gainer.
Electric wiring is being placed
throughout the building so that in
the future it can used as needed
without tearing the building to
pieces to install it. Direct wires
run from the judge's bench in the
court room to both the county
clerk and the eheriff, whose offices
are below.
Washstands and drinking foun
tains are to be of iron white en
ameled instead of marble, the
former being better for sanitary
reasons.
A 40-horse power boiler will be
placed in the basement to furnish
the steam heat. It was made in
Pittsburg and will bear 150 pounds
steam pressure, though the re
quirements of the building call for
only 15 pounds. The fire-box will
take 4-foot cordwood without fur
ther sawing, a saving of time and
money in itself.
The direct vent will be used for
the sewer system. There will be
four fire hydrants, two on. each
floor, with 50 feet of reeled hose
always ready.
Crook county may well be proud
of its new court house, for there is
no finer in Oregon.
