Great Day in Princvillc.
(Continued from page 1.)
turn. Too much credit cannot be
given to J. V. llorigan aud Jack
Cadle. for the success of this part of
the celebration. Those of us who
have oaten barbecued meat thai
was almost half cooked can ap
preciate meat that left nothing to
be desired in the way of cooking.
It was as lender as chicken and
contained all the juices of the
meat. Between twelve and fifteen
hundred people wro le'p'd to
meat, bread and pickles.
The di'e.ent field sporls were
carried out ns advertised. The
only trouble was lack of time in
which to pull them off. F.very
minute was occupied with some
thing. C. I. Winnck and his co-workers
on the different committees cannot
le given too much prai-e for their
laKrs in behalf of the celebration.
The business men of the itv also
who contributed so liberally both
of time anil monev have reason to
feci proud of the result.
The Prineville Band made its
first appearance in its new uniform
on the Fourth, and the band men
may Ik pardoned for stepping so
high during the parade.
Taken as a whole, from July 2
to July 4, the celebration was an
unqualified sueecfs, the best the
town ever held.
