Wool Goes at 12 Cent
Pendleton, Or., May 25 About
800,000 pounds of wool out of
something over 1,000,000 pounds
that were offered in the first sales
for this city was sold. The prices
bid ranged from 6 to 13 cents per
pound. Most of it changed hands
at or near 12 cents, and there were
only two bids as low as 6 cents
The prices paid were from 1 to 3
cents lower per jound than the
growers expected, and on a scoured
basia are about 35 per cent lower
than last year. While the wool
opened up well as tar as staple is
concerned, the buyers declared
there was more sand and dirt than
UBual, due to the large number of
wind and dust storms this spring.
Campaign Lie Nailed
A report has been circulated in
Crook county that Fred W, Wil
son, the republican candidate for
district attorney, i a stockholder
and the attorney for the Eastern
Oregon Brewing Company of The
Dalle. In order to correct the
false impression such a report was
intended to make Andrew Keller,
the president of the company,
sends to the Journal the following;
The Dalles, Or., May 27th, 'OS.
I, Andrew Keller, hereby certify
that I am the president and man
ager of the Eastern Oregon Brew
ing Company, conducting the only
brewery at The Dalles, Oregon;
that I have been told that the re
port is being circulated that Mr.
Fred W, Wilson, the republican
candidate for district attotney, is
a stockholder in and the attorney
for said brewerv. In justice to
Mr. Wilson I wish to state and de
clare that such report ia absolutely
untrue and false. Mr. Wilson has
no interest whatever, either di
rectly or indirectly in the concern,
nor ia he the attorney for the
same.
Neither the brewery, myself or
anyone connected with it has any
interest either in the election of
Mr. Wilson or his defeat and I
make this statement simply to set
forth the exact truth, by request of
Mr. ilson, and to correct any
false report which may be made
to the contrary.
A.N'DKKW KELLER, President.
Give Me Your Support for County
Judge.
As an indefiendent candidate for
county judge I have an undeniable
claim upon the voters of the coun
ty for their support. I have been
a resident of Crook county for 24
years, during which time I have
been in the public service but once
and that waa when assessor for one
term. My term in office gave the
people absolute satisfaction.
The Bend country already has a
commissioner and a vote lor Mr.
Ellis means that the Bend country
will dominate the county in the
court for at least two years. A vote
for me means a division of power
proportioned rightly between the
east end, the west end and the
north end. Could anything be
more lair or just Ail parts ot
the county will thus be represented
equally by competent men. Vote
for me and get square deal.

iTIT The bee industry in Crook County should be
jj entered into by a great many more than now do. Q
It doesn't seem to be generally known that they do
exceptionally well here, and the price of honey is
always high.
flT Iiees travel from two to four miles to gather
jj honey, so that if there is an alfalfa field within
this distance'from your place, you can profitably care
for bees. We feel that a few stands of bees at every
ranch will give the greatest returns on the money
invested of any branch of industry on the place. We
have recently received a complete assortment of
Bee Supplies of the "Root's Patent" make, which
are made different and from better material than the
common western make. We can supply all your needs
along this line.
