Be Careful How Yoa Vote
For the benefit "I thoo who have i
forgotten or who do not uruW-j
Und the hills that are to tx voted j
upon in the election next Monday,,
we give the following information: i
The first four bills app-aring on
the ballot were referred to the
people by the legislative awvinbly
and conoequently haveleen uj be
fore both houses and have been
duly passed and signed by the
governer, but have been referred to
the people by motion of the mem
bers of the legislature for their
ratification. The second four
measures under the caption "Refer
endum ordered by petition of the
people," appearing on the ballot
that will be in your hands next
Monday were passed in the same
manner as the first four, and have
been called up before the people
for their consideration by petition
of a number of citizens. These
and the first four, or the first eight
measures appearing on the ballot
have been up before the duly elect
ed legislators and have been made
laws by them and been duly sign
ed by the governor, therefore you
will make no great mistake in in
dorsing the action of the legisla
ture of the state in voting "yes" on
all of them, for it is only reason
able that these men who have
made a study of the matter have
done what they thought best tor
their constituents.
Those of the measures labeled
"Proposed by Initiative Petition,"
however, are of an entirely differ
eat nature and should be voted
upon according to the knowledge
of the voter as to their wisdom to
become laws. Many of them are
unfit and will no doubt be rejected
if passed by the people and sent
to the legislature for the consider
ation of that body. It is of the last
amendments on the ballot and not
the first eight measures, that it has
been said, vote "No" on all of
them and make no mistake, and
this may be good advice. In the
opinion of Dr. Belknap, who is a
member of the legislature, none
but numbers 316, 332 and 334 are
of sufficient merit to be recom
mended to the legislative assembly
